Finding Dory Cake

New Peach

Original Pearl

Hi, Cake Lovers

I am sorry that I have to delay once again about Paul's BMW birthday cake. I find myself also love a good birthday cake full of characters.

This week, I am sharing a Finding Nemo/Dory themed cake for one year old Sophie (her Chinese nickname symbolised the main character). The base design came from my first ocean related birthday cake a few years back. However, this cake is just as fun and more colourful. Mummy's biggest request was to have five characters from the movie, we settled on having Nemo, Dory, Squirt, Peach and Pearl.

I made two visions of the Peach (The Octopus) as the first one I had each tentacle made separated before attaching to the body. Then I did further research about the character, it has very short tentacles (one specifically shorter but not noticeable according to the information and from the plastic figurine you found on the market) has no seams. I

I also had two sizes of Pearl (The Starfish). In the beginning, I thought I made it too big but in the movie, it's bigger than Nemo. As a result, I switched it back the last minute.

Before I began the process, I thought the most difficult one would be Squirt. At the end, Dory was the most difficult one. I had three made (her pattern on the body, her facial expressions and her fins are all very unique) and finally I got it right and happy with at the end. :-)

The edible figurines on the top were setting on a white/reef sand decorated cake board, so it can be kept as a keepsake for many years.
