Dear Cake Sweeties
A new friend I met through hubby
came to ask if I could make a jungle safari themed cake for her son’s first
birthday. This is the second time I have another go at the animal prints and I
have improved so much, and very happy to have this opportunity to create this
cute cake.
For Derek’s safari themed cake,
the main inspiration was from a photo Mum Olivia sent me via Custom Birthday
Cakes in UK.
To execute that theme we
included several cute jungle animals included a lion, a monkey, a giraffe, a
hippo and an elephant.
The top tier was decorated in
giraffe print while the bottom tier was decorated in zebra print. Additional
decorations include a final decision to add a palm tree, a palm leaf name
plague and a few blossoms here and there.
Flavor and filling for the 6"
were dark chocolate mud cake with dark chocolate ganache.
Flavor and filling for the 8"
were dark and white chocolate zebra print mud cake with dark chocolate ganache.
We’ve also made two dozens
cupcakes with eight designs for the topper i.e. elephant, lion, hippo, zebra,
giraffe, monkey, tiger and palm leaf with number 1. Flavor and filling were our
ultimate chocolate cupcake with vanilla cool whip frosting.
Furthermore, for the keepsake
of all the animal toppers, I made a dummy cake that is covered in green and
decorated with green leaves for them to put on and store for years to come.
