Louis Vuitton Damier Cake

Hi Cake Sweeties

I want to share this Bucket Bag Cake (as my friend calls it) with you today. Louis Vuitton was the first designer brand caught my eyes in my 20s. I made this cake for my dearest friend, Claire's birthday. When we were in our 20s, we went to Melbourne once, we both bought a designer bag i.e. a LV bag each.

As we both love designer bags and I believe most people do, that her birthday cake this year is modelled after a current trend i.e. bucket style bag. The design includes hand-cut squares to make the checkerboard patter on it, as well as gold painted logo on the top. The final touch is the gold painted LV locket.

In term of the cake flavour this time, I chose to make a new recipe. Although chocolate and vanilla will always be classic, but this unique cake flavour will satisfy both less sweet and sweet tooth. She absolutely loved the "earl grey tea cake sandwiched with earl grey tea milk chocolate ganache and frosted with earl grey tea white chocolate ganache". She even sent me a photo after cutting the cake. You could see it's very moist and certainly very delicious.

Happy birthday, Claire! May you continue to be blessed with health, youthfulness and beauty always.

For that Louis Vuitton fanatic - the Damier style. A cake is certainly for the fashion lovers out there!

Thank you all for stopping by. There is a new project coming up for this Father's Day. Stay tuned.

Happy baking

Chanel Inspired 40th Birthday Party

Hi Cake Sweeties

What a celebratory month for me! I turned 40 in July this year. A 40th birthday deserves a classy and fabulous celebration. I had a Chanel Inspired birthday party with my beloved family and sisterly friends.

I did quite a bit of research on Coco Chanel for this party but I only had one month to prepare. With Chanel No.40 being the focus, the classic black and white styling has been used beautifully throughout.

Take-home favour bags were designed to resemble black Chanel shopping paper bags and were placed alongside a photo booth station for guests to fill with all the desserts to take home.

Chanel’s signature quilting has also been used throughout the party design. All of this combined provides a feeling of classic and fabulous.

Would you have thought that black and white food would look delicious?  This party is proof that it does! The dessert table featured an assortment of black and white candies and sweets.

Everything on the dessert table compliments each other, from cupcakes, macarons, cookies, Oreos covered in chocolate and not forgetting the stunning quilted cake.  The incorporation of the logo onto the cake is simply classic and chic.

The paper straws make the table less serious, and they add a playful element to the table design. The silver candle holders add a touch of sophistication. We chose to put the different shades of peachy roses in the perfume shaped vases. The tablecloth was black we just had to lighten it up white Chanel inspired placemats, white plates, white serviettes etc. At the end, everything has been put together beautifully right down to the final details of Chanel’s genuine ribbons, the water bottle labels and even the stunning favour bags.

I also got the venue to layer the black chair covers with black slashes.

Watch out for these little details on the dessert and drinking tables as shown below:

  • Black and white Chanel-inspired cakes (2 tiered cake was a dummy and one tiered was sugar free chocolate cake wrapped in the genuine Chanel ribbon).
  • A stunning array of floral arrangements by my sister
  • Various types of sweet trays and jars
  • Chanel-themed fondant cupcake toppers
  • Customised Chanel Water Bottle Wrappers
  • Chanel Sugar Cookies in the clear cello-bags with customised thank you stickers
  • Chanel hand-drawing macarons in the mini stands
  • Chanel cupcakes (Chocolate) with customised wrappers
  • Mini Hershey chocolate bar wrappers
  • Tic-tac wrappers
  • Chanel perfume bottle favour boxes
  • White favour box with customised thank you stickers
  • Fashion Posters behind the Buffet station and in the room
